May 2009

Website launch for Slough young people makes 1,000's of FREE places to go & things to do available and people to talk to.

SloughForYOUth is a brand new website & directory for 13-19 year olds within Slough. You can find it at www.sloughForYOUth.com . The aim of the website & directory is to help young people identify and access a range places to go, things to do and people to talk to. The directory contains a wide range of positive activities such as sports, creative arts, recreation and leisure activities, youth clubs, information and advice services for young people.

SloughForYOUth website contains the following:

• Thousands of activities & events for young people updated everyday (Helen - can you confirm these numbers?)
• Interactive poll functionality for young people, so that we can regularly seek their views and opinions on services and issues that matter to them.
• An animation created using music provided by Slough musical talent Josh Cyrus (JC)
• A 'facebook' style administration section for 'featured events' allowing event owners to upload video, photos and news relating to their event

Slough Youth Service is working closely with Community & Leisure Services to enable young people to access FREE activities such as swimming, gym, ice skating, karting, fitness classes, badminton, snooker etc. across Slough. Young people can access these activities through the use of a unique 'slough currency' activity token. The limited edition activity tokens will be given to young people by schools, youth centres etc.
